The Posner Jewish Education Magnet (Religious School) serves children in grades K-7. It meets every Sunday throughout the school year from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m, with special family programming for holidays and some Shabbatot. Children in grades 3 to 7 also meet one Tuesday evening per month for Hebrew Learning Lab from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m.
Our Avanim program (jewels) serves students in grades K through 7 who have a variety of developmental differences. With a certified Special Education instructor, the curriculum is tailored for each student, with his or her strengths in mind.
TORAH360! – Engaging Teens One Mitzvah at a Time
Torah360! is a new and exciting program for our 8th through 12th graders that encourages teens to shape their own Jewish journey by choosing from a menu of activities through which they will earn Mitzvah points. A full circle of points (360 in total) earns students special honors such as: Confirmation, Graduation and wonderful trips.
The Madrichim (Teaching Assistants) program at Har Sinai is a popular option with our teens. Beginning in Grade 8, as Madrichim-in-Training (MITs), teens learn positive discipline, lesson planning and classroom management, in order to serve in classrooms and specialty areas as teaching assistants. Beginning in Grade 9, the madrichim choose their assignments. Teens may gain community service hours and funds, banked toward Jewish youth activities such as camp, youth group activities and Israel experiences.
Our diverse programs for teens include our Congregational Confirmation class, geared toward Grade 10, and taught by Rabbi Joseph and Cantor Gerber. Confirmation class also includes a long-celebrated heritage trip to New York City.
